Centre for Citizens With Disabilities Trains Persons in Capacity building on Tracking Palliatives for PWDs
The war against corruption received a massive boost on Tuesday 9th of June as sign language interpreters from 150 local governments of Kano, Kaduna, Lagos , Akwa Ibom, Enugu and by extension Jigawa state participated in an online training organized by the centre for Citizens with disabilities (CCD).
The online Training which was a collaboration with the UK AID, Actionaid who are all parties in the campaign for the Strengthening Citizens Resistance Against Prevalence of Corruption (SCRAP-C) in Nigeria, was organized to build capacity in tracking Palliatives for PWDs during this pendamic
In an opening remark, the Executive Director, David O. Anyaele ,said as an NGO that has been on ground for 18 years , their primary concern has always been persons with disabilities.
And it become important to demand for accountability and also the rights of persons with disabilities during the period of the pendamic.
He further stated that the aim of the training is to build the Capacity of persons selected from the sign language interpreters association who will be conducting and carrying out the survey on Palliatives distribution to ascertain the inclusion of persons with disabilities with each person representing a local government of the focal states.
The resources person Mr Godwin Unumeri , explained further during the training that the survey was for basically the persons with disabilities, the blind and the deaf.
The meeting for Participants from Enugu, Lagos And Akwa Ibom started around 9:30 to 2:00pm and that of Kano ,Kaduna Started by 2:30pm and lasted for almost 4 hours
Recall that recently CCD conducted an online webinar were it stress on the need to create awareness on the spread of COVID-19
